“When they first arrived, they came quietly and steathily, as if they tip-toed into the world when we were all looking the other way.”
I suppose you could say it all began with ‘Boy in the Tower.’ I was working as a teacher in a primary school in London, dreaming of stories, and this was the result. I used to write very early in the morning before the day got going and bit by bit, ‘Boy in the Tower’ came into being. I was worried it wasn’t any good but sent it to an agent for some feedback, pretty sure it was going to resigned to a bottom drawer. Now it’s read and shared in primary schools and libraries across the country, has been shortlisted for multiple awards and selected as one of BookTrust’s Best 100 Children’s Books in the Last 100 Years.
